04 MAR 06 - Sq.18 Color Guard at Wing Comp.
by 1st Lt. Ha, CAP

The Squadron 18 Color Guard represented San Francisco Bay Group 2 at the 2006 California Wing Cadet Competition. The event was held on the weekend of 04-05 March 2006, at Vandenberg Air Force Base (AFB). The winning Color Guard would represent California Wing at the 2006 Pacific Region Cadet Competition. The Squadron 18 Color Guard members consisted of 5 cadets-4 Cadet NCOs and 1 Cadet Airman. Judges ranged from the members of the Vandenberg AFB Honor Guard to a Marine (Pictured above). At the competition, three other California Wing Groups were represented by their respective Color Guards.

Representative cadets were judged in uniform appearance, physical fitness, aerospace history and science, and Color Guard drill and presentation (Pictured above). In the evening after the first day of the competition, all the participant cadets enjoyed leisure time at the Vandenberg AFB bowling alley. At the conclusion of the competition, Squadron 18 cadets earned 1st in physical fitness and shared 1st place with another team in the aerospace 'academic bowl.' Although the Squadron 18 Color Guard competed diligently, Squadron 47 (representing South Coast Group 7) won 1st place overall. Squadron 18 is proud to have represented San Francisco Bay Group 2 and is looking forward to next year.

  19 FEB 06 - Sq.18 Cadets attend 2006 CPC
by 1st Lt. Ha, CAP

More than ten members of Squadron 18 attended the 2006 California Wing Cadet Programs Conference (CPC) held at Camp San Luis Obispo. Cadets from all over California participated in this relatively relaxed event. It also offered an Activites Fair where Squadron 18 cadets (Pictured above) got the chance to find out about various events.

At the conclusion of the two-day Conference, a banquet was held where formal awards and recognitions were presented. All the female cadets were escorted by Cadet Officers who wore dress blues. Squadron 18 enlisted cadets had an enjoyable time (Pictured above) at their tables.

The Conference banquet also offered a chance for Cadet Officers from different squadrons to see each other again. The Squadron 18 Cadet Commander (Second from left above) caught-up with cadets whom he met throughout his long involvement in California Wing activities.
